As a look development artist for the Stranger Things S4 Demodog, I built upon the creature’s previous appearance and concept art to refresh its look for the new season. My responsibilities included updating and upresing the level of detail while working closely with the texture artist to create four variations of the asset in terms of color. We also created a bloodied variation for the feeding scene.
While many of the challenges were similar to those faced with the Demogorgon, the process for the Demodog was more straightforward. I’m particularly pleased with the result, especially considering that it wasn’t designated as a "hero" asset in terms of production budget. The open ribcage viscera was shaded by another artist, but overall, the final look aligned with the production's vision, maintaining a high standard despite the constraints.
The textures were created by Diego Romo and the modeling by Philip Harris-Genois. As always it was a blast working along them and exchange ideas on how to improve the asset.
